On a bright morning in Figuier, a group of children gather around a reservoir with buckets in hand. Eight-year-old Fadouens proudly helps his father water young fruit tree seedlings planted by the community. Each sapling represents more than shade or greenery — it symbolizes hope, nourishment, and a sustainable future for Haiti.
For decades, Haiti has lost nearly all its forests. Hillsides stripped of trees suffer from flooding, soil erosion, and declining agriculture. Without reforestation, families struggle to farm and access clean water. But at Fondasyon Luc Innocent pou Devlopman Lakay, we are changing that story — one fruit tree at a time.
Our foundation focuses on fruit tree planting because it does more than restore the land — it feeds families, builds livelihoods, and creates long-term resilience. Mango, papaya, coconut, lemon, strawberries and soursop trees now dot the landscape, offering both nutrition and income for local communities.
Each tree planted:
- Prevents erosion and enriches the soil
- Protects water sources for irrigation and drinking
- Provides food and income from fruit harvests
- Creates green jobs in nursery care and maintenance
- Builds resilience for generations to come
Every weekend, volunteers gather with watering cans, gloves, and dedication. Their work is transforming Figuier into a thriving, sustainable fruit forest — a living legacy rooted in love and community. Over time, this initiative will expand throughout the Artibonite region, spreading growth and hope wherever the soil welcomes new life.
